Toastmasters plans to revolutionize the public speaking industry with the launch of Yoodli, an artificial intelligence-powered public speaking coaching platform that is available to the organization’s over 280,000 members around the world.

Members can now practice speeches and see instant analytics on their filler words, pacing, eye contact, and much more. With Yoodli, members can also play impromptu speaking games (called “Table Topics”) and collaborate with colleagues on speeches, all from the comfort of their homes.

“We are very excited to partner with Yoodli and establish our foothold in the arena of artificial intelligence and speech pattern recognition,” says Matt Kinsey, Toastmasters’ 2022-23 International President. “This collaboration adds tremendous value for our current members and prospective members. We are most thrilled that we can offer this pioneering speech preparation tool at no additional cost to our members.”

Through Yoodli, Toastmasters members can:

  • Practice, record, and store up to 60 minutes worth of speeches
  • Receive analytics showing their filler words, pacing, word choice, and more
  • View an auto-generated transcript of their speech
  • Share a speech with others
  • Play Yoodli-created word games

Yoodli is already being used by thousands of corporate professionals and university students to prepare for upcoming interviews and speeches and get real time analytics on their everyday Zoom calls. Their advisory board includes experts ranging from world champions of public speaking to speech language pathologists and communications coaches from Harvard, Google, among others.

“Two out of three people miss out on opportunities because they struggle with the fear of public speaking,” says Varun Puri, a former Google employee and one of the founders of Yoodli. “Our alternatives today involve practicing in front of a mirror or camera or simply avoiding the speech. Technology can be a great enabler in democratizing access to speech coaching.”
