The Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has announced the commencement of harmonised short codes across all networks, ALTON’s Chairman, Gbenga Adebayo and        Head of Operations, Gbolahan Awonuga expressed in a jointly signed statement in Lagos this week.

“This is in “pursuant to a regulatory modernisation initiative by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC),” ALTON, the umbrella body for telcos stated.

The harmonisation of shortcodes will enable common shortcodes utilised by customers to be uniform across all networks. For instance, the code for recharging a line can be used across all mobile networks for the same function.
