FirstBank has confirmed the appointment of Olayinka Thomas Ijabiyi as its substantive Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, with immediate effect. Driving Integrated Marketing Across FirstBank’s Markets

Having joined FirstBank in 2011, Ijabiyi served in an acting capacity as Group Head from December 2024 until his confirmation. In his role, he leads integrated marketing and corporate communications strategies across the Group’s markets, overseeing brand and reputation management, executive positioning, corporate responsibility and sustainability, as well as strategic communications aligned with the bank’s business objectives.

Proven Leadership Within FirstBank

Within FirstBank, Ijabiyi has held several senior leadership roles, including Head, Brand Strategy and Special Projects; Head, Digital Marketing; and Head, Brand and Stakeholder Management. Across these roles, he has delivered major brand initiatives, milestone anniversary campaigns, and brand refresh programmes—consistently enhancing brand equity while driving operational efficiencies.

Distinguished Career Before FirstBank

Before joining the bank, Ijabiyi built a diverse professional career with organisations such as the British Council, Multichoice, MTN, and Etisalat Nigeria, where he played key roles in brand building, corporate communications, and digital transformation initiatives.

Academic and Professional Credentials

Ijabiyi holds a Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from the former Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti. He is a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, among other professional bodies.
