Demo Day Highlights the Growing Momentum of Healthcare Innovation in Nigeria

Evon Labs, an innovation and venture-building platform focused on scaling technology-driven solutions, has successfully concluded the first edition of the HealthX Catalyst, a 12-week health-tech incubation programme designed to tackle Africa’s most pressing healthcare challenges.

The programme culminated in a high-impact Demo Day held on June 24, 2026, at the UNDP Innovation Centre, bringing together startup founders, investors, healthcare leaders, development partners, and ecosystem stakeholders.

12 Startups, One Shared Mission: Fixing Africa’s Healthcare Gaps

The inaugural HealthX Catalyst cohort featured 12 early-stage health-tech founders building solutions across critical areas such as access to care, service delivery, health system efficiency, and technology-enabled patient support.

During Demo Day, founders presented how their ideas had evolved over the 12-week programme into more refined, market-ready solutions. Beyond product demos, the event underscored the importance of structured incubation in helping healthcare startups transform promising concepts into viable and scalable businesses.

Keynotes Spotlight Innovation and Long-Term Thinking

A major highlight of the event was a keynote address by Fola Laoye, Co-Founder and CEO of Iwosan Investments Limited. She spoke on the evolution of Nigeria’s healthcare ecosystem, stressing the growing role of innovation, collaboration, and private-sector participation in improving healthcare delivery nationwide.

Laoye highlighted the significant opportunities within the sector while emphasizing the need for sustained support systems that enable healthcare entrepreneurs to build impactful and enduring solutions.

The second keynote was delivered by Anuoluwa Ife-Olatunji, Group Chief People Officer at EHA Group, who challenged participating startups to focus on building long-term, fit-for-purpose solutions capable of strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system over time.

Closing the event, Isioma Udeozo, Founder of Evon Labs, described HealthX Catalyst as a deliberate effort to empower founders solving real-world healthcare problems.

She noted that the past 12 weeks revealed exceptional growth, resilience, and creativity among participants, adding that Demo Day was not just a conclusion but a launchpad.

“HealthX Catalyst was designed to support founders developing practical solutions for real healthcare issues. Demo Day was more than the end of a programme—it showcased the power of local innovation when founders are given the right support, guidance, and ecosystem access,” Udeozo said.
