The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has said it will only deploy its ICT intervention projects to corporate bodies, institutions, communities and other stakeholders of interest that clearly have a sustainability plan for the infrastructure.
The Director General of NITDA, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, made this known during a recent visit to the agency in Abuja by top management staff of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, led by its rector, Mr. Sanusi Waziri Gumau.
The NITDA has implemented several ICT intervention projects across Nigeria targeting to among others: develop internal readiness for efficient IT governance in the states; improve use of IT in government service delivery; drive IT penetration and diffusion in Nigeria particularly in digitally under-covered communities; promote home-grown IT SMEs to enhance job and wealth creation among young Nigerians; build and promote IT capacity in Nigeria’s education ecosystem.
Dr Pantami said while the NITDA was mindful of its statutory commitment to Nigerians across all geographical zones, it has become necessary to ensure that beneficiaries of NITDA’s mandate have a sustainability plan for the infrastructure the agency was deploying to meet the needs of such beneficiaries.
The delegation from Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi were on a working visit to NITDA to seek assistance in enhancing the institution’s eLibrary.
The NITDA has severally supported the IT-readiness of the country’s education sector including providing sponsorship for advance studies for many Nigerians in IT.
