Global startup landscape is broadening
“For a billion-dollar company to emerge, ambitious founders need access to the capital, talent and technology required to turn an idea into a business capable of scaling rapidly. Historically, these ingredients have been concentrated in the world’s wealthiest economies, but that is beginning to change as more countries develop the ecosystems needed to support high-growth startups,” comments Alan Goldberg lead data analyst at BestBrokers.com.
He adds:
“Artificial intelligence is accelerating this shift, with record investment helping companies reach billion-dollar valuations faster while creating opportunities across the wider technology ecosystem. But the trend extends beyond AI, with new unicorns emerging in fields from robotics and healthcare to fintech, defense and space technology. The global startup landscape is broadening, giving more countries a chance to produce the companies that will shape the next decade.”
The report was based on the latest data from the business analytics platform Crunchbase as of August 2026. Additional data on VC investments, funding rounds, and company valuations was collected from Pitchbook.
