We are now in the 2nd year of the Axia Technology Challenge from Axia Hub and we have been able to directly and indirectly affect the educational curriculum of over 15 secondary schools.

The number of students stating interest in ICT related courses has grown exponentially, the number of students who are now entry level technologists have also grown.

HOW DID WE DO THIS?

The first strategy was exposure.

But we started by building their interest,

Next, we provided them technical Support, we had Instructors assigned to each of the schools to provide mentorship and skilled supervision aimed at keeping the schools on the right path.

Next, we built a process that set them on their own journey, and periodically when they gather for #axiatechchallenge, the event serves as our opportunity to define their direction for next few months,

The first year, served as a trigger and an avenue for support and to trigger curriculum transformation

And this year, we are focused on solution provision, we desire that these students transit from basic knowledge to solution driven application of their new found passions and skills in programming.

WHAT IS NEXT?

Saturday 21st November, the second stage of #axiatechchallenge 2.0 will be holding, 8 schools made it to this stage after the intense first round, and they will be focused on solutions around #SDG9 (Industry, Innovation and infrastructure) and #SDG13 (Climate Action)

We desire that these students begin to consciously apply themselves to solving real and relatable societal problems.

Our next plans for the next stage after this will communicated after this phase.
