The NCC, NITDA, NIGCOMSAT, NADDC and the PICTDA have consistently championed initiatives targeting to build young people through digital enablement. NITDA and NCC have led in fostering development and exposure of Nigeria’s startup ecosystem and on the Plateau, PICTDA is championing the scheme to produce an army of young software developers. Both the NADDC and NIGCOMSAT are promoting initiatives targeting to encourage young people to come up with innovative solutions in the automotive and satellite industries respectively.

The maiden event with the main theme: ‘Harnessing the Power of Young People Online in the Digital Age’ is focusing on opportunities and challenges in cyberspace for Nigeria’s most active population segment on the internet.

The Nigerian Teen Cyber Festival is admitting insights and presentations on how regulatory authorities as well as other stakeholders could work to harness the unlimited potential of cyberspace as a tool for national development through young people.

The virtual and physical event is a mix of Conference, CyberTalents Expo, Teen Fire Chat on Opportunities and Challenges in cyberspace; and platform for leveraging innovations; and promoting Ideas Xchange for young people,” said CEO/Co-Founder CC-Pro, Delmwa Gogwim.

Last week in Lagos, ADEF’s President Olusola Teniola said the Forum’s endorsement for ngTeenCyberFest 2021 underscores part of its objectives to drive awareness for digital economy among the continent’s young population who not only constitute over 60% of Africa\s demography but carry the greatest responsibility of driving the continent’s digital future.

“Africa’s steady transition to technology-enabled economies is not in doubt. What must not also be in doubt is the capacity of its young population to drive and sustain this transition for common good of everyone. Raising awareness targeting to improve capacity or reskilling, investments, policies and regulations from bottom up of the population should be encouraged and fostered as part of the drive for Africa’s shift to digitalizing its economy,” said Teniola.
