ICT stakeholders will this morning gather in Jos, Plateau State administrative capital in central Nigeria to articulate on creating new jobs and deepening the digital economy with new value propositions. The stakeholders are drawn from the private and public sectors as well as civil society organisations (CSOs), non-government organisations (NGOs) and the media.

The HackJos Conference (HACKJOSCON2019) will be focusing on the role of the private sector as a critical driver of economic growth, social development, and creator of jobs.

The mix of stakeholders will deliberate on how public-private collaboration could create workable frameworks that could pull millions out of unemployment and re-skill others for new profitable careers within the tech ecosystem, organisers announced in Jos, today.  

An initiative of nHub as part of efforts to deepen conversations on creating a tech-driven economy, promoting innovation hubs across the country and kitting young people with software and entrepreneurship skills, HACKJOSCON2019 already has the support of Qitech Technologies Limited, Smartweb, Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Knowhow Media International & market Intelligence (KMMIIL) Ltd and the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), among others.

nHub is the largest technology and innovation hub in the north of Nigeria and has helped to re-skill thousands of young people.

“Innovation and technology is the cornerstone of the new economy, we believe stakeholders collaboration involving the private and public sectors is important to creating non-oil based economic values and jobs,” said CEO of nHub, said longji Theodore.

The HACKJOSCON2019 is designed at encouraging a meeting point for budding entrepreneurs and already established tech-companies as well as for policy makers and investors angling to bet on technology innovation.

Director General of the PICTDA, Mr. David Daser, is leading a list of confirmed speakers and panelists to deliberate on how private sector and government could collaborate to foster a sustainable technology sector.
