President Bola Tinubu is meeting with the leadership of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during a technical stopover in Abu Dhabi, UAE, after the President’s departure from New Delhi, India. A statement by Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), Chief Ajuri Ngelale, has confirmed.

He said “the meeting will serve as a follow-up discussion to address specific, salient issues within the bilateral relationship after conversations held during a recent visit by the UAE Ambassador to the President at the State House in Abuja.”

Dubai hosts world at GITEX GLOBAL

The president’s visit is happening just as Dubai prepares to host the world at GITEX GLOBAL from 16-20 October 2023 under the auspices of the UAE government and organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC)

GITEX GLOBAL, an annual tech event in Dubai, annually attracts 170,000 trade buyers; 6,000+ exhibitors; 1,400+ expert speakers; and 176 attending countries. Nigeria made its official debut in 2013 at GITEX.

GITEX GLOBAL is now regarded as the biggest tech event in the world following a record-breaking edition in 2022.  The 2023 edition will be a “gathering of the world’s most advanced companies …. Converging and unifying the world’s leading tech protagonists, inventors, academia, researchers and developers, GITEX GLOBAL 2023 will also supercharge the epic global race for AI supremacy, manifesting and translating gen-now tech into business solutions,” the DWTC stated.

President maximizing stopover  in UAE to advance investment promotion

According to Ngelale, “the President is maximizing the opportunity of the stopover to equally advance his investment promotion objectives with high-level authorities in the public and private sectors of the United Arab Emirates.

“Following a successful investment drive on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit, active participation in the G-20 Summit, and a productive stopover in the UAE, the President is expected to return to Abuja immediately following the bilateral engagement.”

In the president’s entourage are senior government functionaries including the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun; Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo; and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar.

The DWTC has announced the launch of two new co-located shows – GITEX IMPACT & Future Urbanism for GITEX GLOBAL 2023 which already have 10 co-located events covering from AI to CybersecurityTelecomsMobility, and Sustainability tech.

Also, this year, the globe’s largest gathering of startups, Expand North Star will be hosted by Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy at the Dubai Harbour from 15-18 October 2023 with a new creative format to extend its engagements with the global startup community.
