Announcing the appointment, ICCA President Ada Izumba described the honour as a recognition of Nnamani’s professional excellence. The tech leader is being honoured for his consistent service to community development and Igbo cultural promotion within the diaspora.
“We are pleased to extend to you the special honour of serving as the first Patron of the Igbo Canadian Community Association, and we sincerely hope that you will accept this invitation,” Izumba said.
A Respected Figure in Nigeria’s Digital Economy
Nnamani is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s foremost digital infrastructure pioneers. He has been repeatedly recognised as one of the 50 Most Valuable Personalities (50MVPs) in Nigeria’s Digital Economy by IT Edge News and Knowhow Media, and has also been designated a Digital Economy Icon and ICT industry trailblazer.
These accolades reflect his visionary leadership in developing carrier-neutral, highly interconnected data centre infrastructure. This infrastructure now serves as a primary peering and interconnection hub for Nigeria and the wider West African telecommunications ecosystem.
Strengthening Connectivity Across West Africa
Under Nnamani’s leadership, Digital Realty Nigeria operates mission-critical facilities that support cloud providers, telecom operators, content platforms, and enterprises. The company is helping to bridge the digital divide and improve network resilience across the region.
This June, Digital Realty under Nnamani’s leadership will be honoured with Institutional Recognition at the 50 Most Influential Figures in Nigeria’s Digital Economy Awards.
Celebrated for Cultural and Community Contributions in Canada
In May, Nnamani was also honoured in Canada at a high-profile cultural event celebrating Igbo heritage and identity. The ceremony recognised his efforts to promote Igbo culture internationally while contributing meaningfully to the social and cultural development of Canadian society.
His appointment as ICCA’s first Patron further underscores his growing influence at the intersection of technology leadership, diaspora engagement, and cultural advocacy.
ICCA Advances Igbo Culture, Showcases Nigerian Resourcefulness in Canada
In his acceptance speech, Nnamani commended the association for advancing Igbo culture and showcasing the resourcefulness of Nigerians in Canada.
“When our ancestors spoke of the ‘Igbo spirit’—Igbo bu ofu—they spoke of resilience, community, entrepreneurship, and unwavering strength. Whether you are a first-generation immigrant, a Canadian-born youth, or a student, those values remain your guiding light. You have successfully transplanted the rich, vibrant heritage of Igboland into the diverse and welcoming soil of Canada, and you continue to make incredible contributions to our local communities,” Nnamani said.
He expressed commitment to growing the association in value and relevance.
“As your Patron, my vision is to walk alongside you in three primary areas: Preserving Our Heritage: We will ensure that our mother tongue (Asụsụ Igbo) and our rich cultural traditions—such as respect for elders, hospitality, and communal love—are passed down vibrantly to the next generation. Empowering Our Community: We will work to foster economic growth, mentorship, and professional networking, ensuring that every Igbo Canadian has the resources to thrive and succeed. Building Bridges: We will deepen our engagement within the broader Canadian multicultural landscape. By showcasing our rich culture, we will contribute meaningfully to the civic, economic, and social fabric of this country.”
He added:
“Let us continue to uphold the principle that has brought our people this far: Igwe bu ike—there is strength in unity. Together, we will build an association that honors our past. One that empowers our present, and leaves a proud, enduring legacy for the generations yet to come.”
Set to Speak at WACC 2026
Nnamani is scheduled to speak at the 15th West Africa Convergence Conference (WACC) 2026 and the 50 Most Influential Figures in Nigeria’s Digital Economy Awards in Lagos this June. His presentation, titled “Data Centres and the Digital Economy: An Operator’s Viewpoint,” will examine the strategic role of data centres in powering Africa’s digital transformation.
