Facebook in consolidation of its commitment to improving the Nigerian technology sector, this week, welcomed the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, to the Silicon Valley in San Francisco, California USA in a grand reception to begin parts of discussions on further strengthening Facebook’s presence in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem through collaborations.

Facebook welcomes NITDA’s boss, Dr Pantami, to Silicon Valley

Pantami who is part of Nigeria’s delegation currently on a public-private sector collaborative investment roadshow to the Silicon Valley in San Francisco assured  the technology giant, that NITDA will be building on the existing relationship to attract more investments into Nigeria.

The Nigerian delegation is led by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo. They are in the US as part of an investment roadshow to showcase growth of Nigeria’s tech and entertainment sectors, and open up investment opportunities in Nigeria to global technology community.

“Nigeria has a robust IT policy that is investor and investment friendly and the potential in the sector is limitless,” Pantami said while speaking on the investment potential of IT in Nigeria at the #investinnigeria summit holding at the Silicon Valley, USA.

Nigeria has recorded huge investment into the ICT sector. In fact, Foreign Direct Investment into the sector is in excess of over 68 billion US Dollars. But, the country through NITDA and other government agencies is looking at expanding investment opportunities in the country.

Facebook recently opened its hub in Lagos, and has consolidat6ed its presence by supporting several hubs across Nigeria with funds and high grade skill to build capacity in thousands of young Nigerians.
