Yango Group, a global technology company, has announced a major expansion of its Yango Fellowship program to Mozambique, Ethiopia, Ghana, and Senegal.

The initiative, which successfully launched in Zambia and Ivory Coast, is designed to unlock the potential of Africa’s next generation of STEM innovators through mentorship, resources, and network building.
Addressing Africa’s Critical STEM Shortage
The expansion directly confronts a pressing continental challenge. The World Bank estimates a shortage of over 2.5 million STEM professionals in Sub-Saharan Africa needed to drive sustainable growth.
With 10-12 million youth entering the job market yearly against only 3 million formal jobs created, the fellowship provides critical hands-on education and career pathways in fields like programming, data analysis, and cybersecurity.
Building a Sustainable Pan-African Network
A key evolution of the program in 2026 is the creation of a lasting, cross-border professional network. Moving beyond the annual cycle, Yango is building a connected community of Fellows and alumni that will continue to collaborate and support each other’s growth long after the program concludes, uniting talent across different regions.
“Africa has an extraordinary pool of talent. The Yango Fellowship is a hands-on program designed to support these talents, connecting young innovators with the mentorship, resources, and knowledge they need to develop solutions that benefit their communities,” said Adeniyi Adebayo, Chief Business Officer at Yango Group.
From Local Ideas to Community Impact
The fellowship provides financial support, expert guidance, and a collaborative environment for participants to turn ideas into tangible community solutions.
Past fellows have launched impactful projects and secured prestigious internships, becoming role models in their local ecosystems. Yango’s local hubs in markets like Abidjan are central to delivering mentorship and strengthening local tech landscapes.
A Broader Commitment to Digital Empowerment
The Fellowship is part of Yango’s wider commitment to digital skills development across Africa. This includes partnerships with universities and educational organizations, as well as initiatives like Urban Mobility Hackathons, where participants solve real-world challenges like traffic prediction, gaining practical skills to improve their cities.
Applications are now open to university STEM students aged 18–25 in all six countries. Interested candidates can apply until January 26, 2026, at yangofellowship.com.
