Samsung Electronics has announced that the reason behind the Galaxy note 7 explosions has to do with the battery and not the phone’s software or hardware in particular.
This was made known during a press conference by the President of Mobile Communications Business , Samsung Electronics , DJ Koh who expressed his sincere apology and gratitude to Galaxy Note 7 customers , retail and distribution partners for their patience and continued support .
“For the last several months, together with independent industry expert organizations, we conducted thorough investigation to find cause to the Galaxy Note7 incidents,” he said.
“And, the internal and independent investigations concluded that batteries were found to be the cause of the incidents,” he added.
You will recall that the phones were launched in August 2016 and over hundred thousand phones were reported to have exploded last year, which resulted to Samsung calling back about 2.5 million phones in September, just after some weeks into the market. A recall that costed Samsung a whopping $5.3bn (£4.3bn) and was damaging on its reputation.
However, the phone manufacturing company undaunted by the fiasco that greeted the Galaxy S7 has announced its next flagship phone Galaxy Note 8 which will soon be launched into the market later this year.
Koh, however , noted that the phone would not get a launch event as previous Galaxy S smartphones at the Mobile World Congress Barcelona slated for February. He then pledged the technology giant’s commitment towards earning customers’ trust through innovations that will ensure safety.
“Today, more than ever, we are committed to earning the trust of our customers through innovation that redefines what is possible in safety, and as a gateway to unlimited possibilities and incredible new experiences.” Koh said.
