Under his leadership, Galaxy Backbone also clinched the prestigious Texcellence Award. This recognition reinforces GBB’s growing reputation as a provider of world-class digital infrastructure and shared services powering Nigeria’s digital economy.
“These recognitions inspire us to keep driving excellence, innovation, and impact across Nigeria’s digital landscape,” said Prof. Adeyanju during the event organised by the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON).
High-Level Forum Spotlights Policy, Innovation, and Industry Synergy
The awards night was the closing highlight of the Minister–Regulator & Telecom Executives Forum 2025, a strategic gathering featuring keynote remarks by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani.
According to ATCON President, Tony Izuagbe Emoekpere, the event provides a platform for robust dialogue on sector needs. At the same, it celebrates individuals and institutions shaping Nigeria’s digital and telecoms future.
“The event is designed to offer powerful insights and discussions on the industry’s pressing needs and honour the visionaries, innovators, institutions, and champions whose contributions continue to define Nigeria’s digital and telecommunications landscape,” Emoekpere noted.
Prof. Adeyanju’s Leadership: Transforming Galaxy Backbone
Since assuming office in February 2024, Prof. Adeyanju has embarked on a strategic transformation of Galaxy Backbone, Nigeria’s state-owned ICT and shared services provider. His vision is steering the organisation from being solely an infrastructure-focused entity to a multi-sector solutions provider.
Adeyanju emphasises stronger collaboration with public and private stakeholders, increased trust, and enhanced service delivery across critical sectors.
Speaking in an earlier interview with IT Edge News.Africa, Prof. Adeyanju said:
“One of the dreams of the current management is to evolve from being a pure infrastructure provider to a complete solution provider. We want to go beyond infrastructure to deliver applications and solutions that fully utilise the infrastructure effectively. That’s our goal over the next two to three years.”
A Milestone Moment for Nigeria’s Digital Economy
The recognitions bestowed on Prof. Adeyanju and Galaxy Backbone underscore the company’s rising influence in strengthening Nigeria’s digital economy, expanding infrastructure, and driving service innovation nationwide. He was last May honoured named among Nigeria’s 50 Most Valuable Digital Economy Personalities for 2025 by IT Edge News.Africa.
