OADC Introduces OAfabric to Bridge Africa’s Connectivity Gaps
Open Access Data Centres (OADC), one of Africa’s fastest-growing carrier-neutral data centre operators, has unveiled its new interconnection platform, OAfabric: (OADC Lagos) in Nigeria and (OADC Texaf – Kinshasa) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The service is designed to break down barriers that have kept Africa’s internet ecosystem slow, expensive, and unreliable.

Now live in OADC’s Lagos and Kinshasa facilities, OAfabric enables enterprises to bypass long-standing connectivity challenges. These include high internet transit costs, unreliable international routes, data sovereignty issues, and fragmented local infrastructure.
Tackling High Internet Costs and Latency
For decades, African businesses endured the world’s highest internet costs, relying on expensive international networks to access cloud and content platforms. This dependence has led to higher latency, poor user experiences, and inconsistent performance.
“OAfabric enables direct, low-latency peering with global and local cloud and content providers. By reducing transit costs, it delivers faster, more reliable performance,” said Dr Ayotunde Coker, Chief Executive Officer of OADC during the Lagos launch.
Simplifying Digital Exchange Through Open Access
Unlike traditional models that require heavy investment in physical infrastructure, OAfabric creates an open-access, carrier-neutral ecosystem for seamless interconnection. Enterprises, networks, cloud providers, and content platforms can now connect more efficiently, reducing delays and complexity.
“We designed OAfabric around the real challenges African businesses face. It lowers the cost of computing, improves performance, unlocks access to cloud and content, and gives companies the confidence to scale faster.”
Driving Growth in Africa’s Digital Economy
Beyond cost savings, OAfabric is positioned as a catalyst for Africa’s digital transformation. By establishing direct interconnection points, the platform strengthens local digital ecosystems, accelerates enterprise time-to-market, and enables faster expansion into emerging markets.
“OAfabric is not just infrastructure—it represents a shift in what is possible for Africa’s digital economy. By enabling frictionless interconnection between Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), content providers, cloud platforms, and enterprises, OAfabric ensures faster access to digital services and stronger resilience for the region,” Coker said
Expansion Plans Across Africa
OADC confirmed that OAfabric will be expanded to more African markets in the coming months, further strengthening access to cloud ecosystems and international content platforms.
The launch is part of OADC’s broader strategy to establish pan-African interconnection hubs that power connectivity, cloud, content, and collaboration. The company emphasized that OAfabric underpins a continental digital ecosystem, boosting innovation, competitiveness, and the overall digital economy.
