Aligning Hajj Operations with Nigeria’s Digital Agenda
The initiative supports Tinubu’s vision to diversify the economy through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, and innovation. By digitising Hajj operations, NITDA and NAHCON aim to:
- Improve logistics and administration.
- Ensure data protection and cybersecurity.
- Create employment opportunities.
- Enhance service delivery for pilgrims.
NAHCON’s Drive for Digital Innovation
NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, expressed readiness to integrate technology into pilgrimage operations, noting that digitalisation will streamline processes and improve the pilgrim experience.
Plans include setting up a joint technical team to design customised digital platforms for registration, medical screening, logistics, and real-time monitoring.
A Milestone in Nigeria’s Digital Economy
NAHCON’s Commissioner for Policy, Personnel Management, and Finance praised NITDA’s collaboration, stressing that embedding technology across the pilgrimage process would boost efficiency, transparency, and welfare.
The partnership marks a major milestone in Nigeria’s digital transformation, aligning Hajj management with global technological standards.
