Abdullahi made this appeal during a courtesy visit by the MTN Foundation delegation led by Odunayo Sanya at NITDA’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja. He stressed that collaboration is crucial in advancing digital skills and aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s industrialisation agenda to create a dynamic and diverse economy.
DL4ALL Initiative Targets 95% Digital Literacy by 2027
The Director-General highlighted NITDA’s Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) programme, which aims to achieve 95% digital literacy in Nigeria by 2027. He noted that the initiative is part of the Agency’s strategic pillar of fostering digital literacy and cultivating homegrown talent.
NITDA is developing a digital literacy framework based on UNESCO and DigiCom standards. The framework includes a three-phase curriculum for primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, with a focus on prioritising skills over certifications.
MTN Foundation Commits to Digital Skills Development
The MTN Foundation shares this vision and currently provides access to over 4,000 online courses, with more than 2,000 young Nigerians already enrolled.
Odunayo Sanya commended NITDA’s initiatives and extended an invitation to the Agency to unveil its academy platform on April 17th.
Partnership to Accelerate Nigeria’s Digital Economy
Both organisations agreed to form a joint committee to ensure effective collaboration. This partnership is expected to boost digital literacy, enhance capacity building, and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s national development agenda.
