In Abuja, NITDA organized a two-day physical training for teachers drawn from Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The training followed more than two weeks of virtual sessions that had already empowered 3,600 teachers nationwide with foundational digital knowledge.
Collaboration with Key Education Stakeholders
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC). This partnership underscores a strong synergy aimed at equipping teachers at both basic and secondary levels with the capacity to deliver 21st-century digital education.
Train-the-Trainer Approach for Wider Impact
A highlight of the Abuja session is the empowerment of selected participants as Master Trainers. Through a train-the-trainer model, these participants will cascade digital skills to thousands of teachers in their states, ensuring sustainability and amplifying the impact of the programme.
Teachers Hail DL4ALL as a Game-Changer
Beneficiaries expressed excitement about the transformative nature of the training.
- Tanko Abdulkareem from Kuje Area Council described the programme as an opportunity to integrate digital applications into the classroom and inspire colleagues.
- Muhammad Ademu from AMAC called it “a timely and life-changing intervention” that would reposition Nigeria’s education for the digital economy.
- Bamidele Gbenga Samuel, Government Secondary School Gwagwalada, emphasized that the training equips teachers to bridge the digital divide in classrooms.
- Veronica Miapie, FCT Secondary Education Board, noted that digital literacy is no longer optional and praised NITDA’s prioritization of teacher capacity-building.
Driving Nigeria’s Knowledge-Driven Economy
Through its Digital Literacy and Capacity Building (DLCB) department, NITDA continues to expand digital knowledge nationwide. The DL4ALL initiative reflects the agency’s commitment to align Nigeria with global technology adoption trends and prepare its citizens for a knowledge-driven, digital economy.
