The delay in disbursing January salaries for Nigerian workers has been attributed to a glitch in the Government Integrated Financial Management System (GIFMIS) platform, according to the Accountant General of the Federation.

This software issue hindered the seamless real-time processing of payroll for federal employees.

However, Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant General, reassured workers that the problem has been resolved, and salaries for January have been successfully activated.

Mokwa emphasized that the issue has been addressed to dispel concerns among workers, and rumours that government has run out of necessary funds to meet salary obligations.
