Since its inception, the NIGCOMSAT Accelerator Programme has empowered dozens of early-stage startups through mentorship, technical guidance, and strategic exposure, helping them build scalable, impact-driven solutions in agriculture, education, health, finance, and national security.

Building Nigeria’s Space-Tech Future

Speaking on the new cohort, Mrs. Maureen Nzekwe, Programme Coordinator, described the accelerator as a national mission to unlock the potential of space technology for development:

“The NIGCOMSAT Accelerator Programme is more than a launchpad — it is a national mission to unlock the potential of space technology in solving Nigeria’s most pressing problems. We are looking for bold thinkers and builders who are ready to innovate with purpose.”

The programme provides participating startups with technical mentorship and network access. It also offers business development support, enabling them to refine their products and attract investment.

Innovia Lab, co-founded by Durojaiye Philips, is one such success story. Since winning a spot in the NIGCOMSAT Accelerator, the company has leveraged AI and satellite technologies to tackle pressing national issues such as insurgency, militancy, and terrorism.

Represented by Obasegun Ayodele, Innovia Lab recently demonstrated how satellite data can enhance national security and developmental planning, aligning perfectly with NIGCOMSAT’s vision of using space-based technologies to drive social impact.

“We are proud of Innovia Lab’s progress and remain committed to supporting startups shaping a smarter, safer, and more connected Nigeria,” said NIGCOMSAT in a statement.

Another standout startup, Dynalimb Technologies, showcased at GITEX GLOBAL 2025 in Dubai,  the world’s largest tech and startup event. Showcasing in Dubai followed its journey from GITEX Nigeria, where it was recognized as one of NIGCOMSAT’s most promising space-tech innovators.

Call for Applications and Mentorship

NIGCOMSAT is inviting space-tech startups, researchers, and industry experts to apply for Cohort 3.0. The programme also welcomes volunteer mentors and facilitators — professionals passionate about supporting emerging innovators.

Driving Africa’s Space-Tech Ambition

As Nigeria strengthens its leadership in satellite communications and space-enabled innovation, the NIGCOMSAT Accelerator Programme continues to serve as a catalyst for digital transformation, says Stephen Kwande, Ag. Head, Corporate Affairs Dept. The initiative is helping startups develop technologies that contribute to the national innovation agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

According to Kwande, the initiative reflects NIGCOMSAT’s broader mission to build a robust space-tech ecosystem. More importantly, to foster public-private partnerships, and position Nigeria as a hub for space innovation in Africa.
