The NCC earned the recognition alongside other top-performing institutions, including the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB)—which emerged overall best-performing agency—followed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
The announcement was made at the PEBEC Awards and Gala Night held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.
Award Celebrates Transparency, Accountability and Public Service Excellence
The recognition honours MDAs that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to openness, accountability, operational excellence, and transparent public service delivery.
Receiving the award on behalf of the NCC, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Dr. Aminu Maida, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening regulatory transparency for the benefit of industry players and consumers.
“This award is an affirmation of the values that guide our work—transparency, accountability, and regulatory excellence,”
Dr. Maida said.
“It validates the reforms we have implemented and challenges us to deepen our commitment to Nigerians.”
He stressed that the NCC’s core mandate remains ensuring a regulatory environment that:
- Attracts investment
- Sustains healthy competition
- Protects consumer rights
- Ensures high-quality telecom services nationwide

“Meaningful progress in the sector can only be achieved through shared commitment and collective action.”
PEBEC: Excellence is Now the Standard for Public Service Delivery
Speaking at the ceremony, PEBEC Director-General, Zahrah Mustapha-Audu, said the event was created to honour institutions that have embraced excellence beyond mere compliance.
“This evening affirms what is possible. We honour reform champions who are redefining public service standards,” she said.
“Our achievements are the product of intentionality, accountability, and the strategic use of data.”
She highlighted that under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and the active chairmanship of Vice President Kashim Shettima, PEBEC has pushed reforms aimed at making Nigeria Africa’s most predictable and competitive business destination.
