According to Shodunke Shoyinka, Chief Information Officer at MTN Nigeria, the company is setting its sights on becoming a technology holding company, emphasizing a shift away from its current telco identity.

“By 2025, we want to see ourselves as a proper technology company, rather than the telco company that we are today,” Shoyinka stated.

As part of its journey towards becoming a TechCo, MTN Nigeria recently launched Meetings+, a user-friendly video conferencing platform developed in collaboration with Zoom and SpeechLogix. This innovative platform aims to redefine traditional business operations, offering SMEs efficient and uninterrupted virtual meeting capabilities.

The solution also facilitates payments in Naira through MoMo or the MyMTN NG app, addressing the challenge of US$ payment constraints.

Charles Okonkwo, General Manager of MTN Business, highlighted the significance of Meetings+ in driving a more connected and prosperous future for Nigerian businesses.

He emphasized the partnership’s commitment to enhancing accessibility and efficiency in conducting online meetings, ultimately fostering progress.

Haitham El-Hanafi, Head of Global Sales at SpeechLogix, emphasized the platform’s capability to boost operators’ revenue, combining Zoom’s video technology with SpeechLogix’s innovative modules to create an all-in-one platform deployed in less than 60 days.

This strategic alliance marks a significant step in MTN’s digital evolution, propelling the company towards its TechCo aspirations.
