MTN Fintech Summit 2025: A Landmark Event for Africa’s Digital Economy
MTN Group Fintech has announced the launch of its inaugural MTN Fintech Summit 2025. It is scheduled to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, from September 9–11, 2025. Africa’s largest fintech platform by scale and reach, It’s inaugural summit is themed “Take-Off”.

The event will bring together more than 300 delegates, including policymakers, regulators, fintech innovators, and industry leaders, from across Africa and beyond.

According to Serigne Dioum, CEO of MTN Group Fintech, the theme “Take-Off” reflects the platform’s pivotal stage of growth where strategy meets execution.
“By bringing together leading innovators, regulators, and policymakers, we aim to shape inclusive and trusted digital financial systems that unlock new opportunities, uplift communities, and drive lasting socio-economic impact across the continent,” Dioum said.
The Summit will serve as a strategic platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and new commercial opportunities, strengthening Africa’s position in the global digital economy.
Two Key Focus Streams: Policy & Commercial Ecosystem
The MTN Fintech Summit 2025 will be structured around two interconnected streams:
- Regulatory & Policy Forum – exploring ways to strengthen legal frameworks, align regulatory systems, and build trust.
- Commercial & Ecosystem Forum – focusing on innovation, partnerships, and scaling inclusive financial solutions.
Discussions will cover critical areas such as:
- Cross-border remittances and interoperability
- Regulatory compliance and data sovereignty
- Harmonized oversight of Mobile Money Payment Service Providers (PSPs)
- Strategies to accelerate digital and financial inclusion across Africa

Nikiwe Tanga, Chief Legal Officer at MTN Group Fintech, emphasized the Summit’s role in advancing regulatory alignment and responsible innovation.
“Our ambition extends beyond commercial objectives to include the advancement of sound regulatory and legal frameworks that support inclusive financial systems,” Tanga noted.
