Morocco is reaffirming its status as a continental tech powerhouse, setting the stage for the third edition of GITEX AFRICA Morocco, the largest tech and startup event in Africa, taking place in Marrakech from 14–16 April 2025.

Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the event is hosted by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform in collaboration with the Digital Development Agency (ADD) and organized by KAOUN International, the global event agency of Dubai World Trade Centre.
With over 45,000 participants from 130+ countries, 1,450+ exhibitors, and representation from emerging tech markets such as Gabon, Niger, Zambia, Belgium, Switzerland, and Uzbekistan, GITEX AFRICA 2025 will spotlight Africa’s accelerating digital economy, with a central focus on AI, innovation, investment, and digital leadership.
“This global showcase of African digital talent reflects Morocco’s commitment to becoming a regional digital hub,” said Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform. “It aligns with the Royal vision of nurturing digital skills, building responsible digital culture, and advancing robust tech infrastructure.”
Driving Africa’s Innovation Agenda
According to Mohammed Drissi Melyani, Director General of ADD, the event goes beyond a technology exhibition.
“GITEX AFRICA Morocco is a landmark event blending innovation, research, investment, and policy. Africa is no longer just consuming technology—it’s shaping it,” he emphasized.
Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International, noted that this edition will accelerate Africa’s entry into the AI-powered era, unlocking new opportunities for growth.
“GITEX AFRICA is a convergence point for global tech enablers, equipping African stakeholders to lead the digital transition,” she added.
A Catalyst for Startup Growth and Tech Investment
As African startup funding rebounds past $2 billion, global investors are turning toward the continent’s innovation hubs. The European Innovation Council (EIC) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) will both host innovation showcases, with IFC spotlighting 10 startups under its SheWins Africa programme.
More than 350 investors from 35 countries, representing over $200 billion in assets, including AFRICINVEST, Techstars, and Ventures Platform, are expected to engage in 1,500+ B2B meetings, eyeing the next unicorns of African tech.
