Following a vote at its Annual General Meeting on November 17th, MEF will now offer Associate Membership to industry associations, analyst houses, academic institutions, and consulting firms, opening its doors to a broader range of ecosystem stakeholders.
Responding to Industry Demand for Broader Collaboration
The decision to create the new Associate Membership category was driven by repeated requests from organizations that were previously ineligible to join. This move formalizes MEF’s role as a central hub for the entire mobile value chain, fostering cross-sector dialogue and collaboration.
The Board and existing members voted unanimously to welcome these new entities into the MEF community. This will ensure that critical voices from research, policy, and advisory sectors can contribute to shaping the industry’s future.
Strengthening the “Voice of the Mobile Ecosystem”
MEF CEO Dario Betti positioned the expansion as a strategic step for the organization’s 25th-anniversary year. “As MEF celebrates its 25th anniversary, it is the perfect time to widen our membership,” said Betti.
“We want to ensure that all players within the mobile industry have the chance to communicate and collaborate. This is how we drive the industry forward.”
Betti emphasized that this inclusive approach is key to tackling industry-wide challenges such as fraud and ensuring that new technologies like AI are developed for the greater good.

It provides its members with global platforms for networking, collaboration, and advancing industry solutions.
