This project marks LG’s 16th borehole donation across Nigeria, reaffirming the company’s dedication to clean water access, health, and sustainable community development.
The newly commissioned facility will ensure reliable, year-round access to safe drinking water for thousands of residents. Additionally, the free mobile laundry station, available for three months, will help ease domestic burdens while promoting improved hygiene and public health.
Beyond Water: LG Expands Impact Through Community Services
Demonstrating its commitment to holistic community empowerment, LG also deployed a technical service team to provide free maintenance for LG gadgets in the community. This effort extends the company’s social responsibility beyond infrastructure by directly supporting household comfort and reducing costs for residents.
“Access to clean water is a right, not a privilege,” said Mr. Paul Mba, Head of Corporate Marketing, LG Electronics Nigeria. “Our Life’s Good Initiative is about dignity, health, and hope. We’re proud to stand with the people of Anfeyin Olokuta in building a healthier future.”
Kwara State Government Commends LG’s Commitment
Representing the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Hon. Abdullah Bata, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, praised LG for its impactful gesture:
“This is a laudable donation to our dear community. The Governor appreciates LG Electronics for their support and hopes to see more partnerships that improve lives while supporting business growth in Kwara State.”
He added, “Water is life, and any organization that prioritizes projects like this is safeguarding the lives of the people. We hope other private organizations will emulate LG Electronics and help make life truly good.”
Public-Private Partnership for Sustainable Development
Also speaking at the commissioning, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, described the project as a model for effective public-private collaboration:
“This borehole and laundry project demonstrates what’s possible when the private sector partners with government and local leaders. Clean water and sanitation are the foundation of healthy, thriving communities.”
He emphasized that the project will transform daily life for residents — improving child health, reducing the burden of fetching water, and creating new economic opportunities.
Similarly, Hon. Garuba Lukmon Agbelere, Chairman, Ilorin East Local Government, expressed heartfelt appreciation:
“LG’s generosity gives us more than water — it gives us pride and a sense of belonging. This partnership brings real change to our community.”
Driving Clean Water and Hygiene Access Nationwide
According to UNICEF, more than 60 million Nigerians lack access to basic clean water. Through the Life’s Good Initiative, LG Electronics is helping bridge this gap by deploying solar-powered boreholes that ensure sustainability in off-grid and underserved communities.
By integrating renewable energy solutions, free laundry services, and electronic maintenance programs, LG demonstrates a comprehensive approach to community health and well-being — one that prioritizes dignity, hygiene, and empowerment.
Supporting Global Goals Through Local Action
The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).
By reducing the spread of waterborne diseases and easing domestic challenges for women and families, LG’s intervention promotes equitable development and supports Nigeria’s national drive for inclusive growth.
“Through initiatives like this, LG Electronics shows how businesses can lead with purpose — building stronger, healthier communities and advancing progress toward a world where everyone has a fair shot at a better life,” said an LG spokesperson.
Looking Ahead: Expanding the “Life’s Good” Impact
LG Electronics plans to expand its Life’s Good Initiative to more Nigerian communities in partnership with state governments, traditional leaders, and development agencies.
The company reaffirmed its long-term goal of ensuring that every Nigerian community enjoys access to clean water, sanitation, and improved quality of life — underscoring its vision that “Life’s Good when communities thrive.”
