The meeting provided a platform to discuss technology-driven solutions that can enhance governance, operational efficiency, and national development through digital innovation and biosafety integration.
Expanding Nigeria’s Digital Infrastructure and Governance Efficiency
In his welcome remarks, Professor Adeyanju highlighted Galaxy Backbone’s mandate to expand Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and promote connectivity across government institutions. He noted that GBB’s work is central to advancing the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda, ensuring that ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) operate on a unified and secure ICT backbone.
Dr. Bwari, on his part, commended GBB for its leadership in digital transformation and shared insights into NBMA’s critical role in safeguarding Nigeria through biosafety, biosecurity, and the safe application of biotechnology. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with GBB to integrate digital systems that can improve biosafety data management, monitoring, and public awareness.
Showcasing GBB’s Integrated Digital Transformation Strategy
According to Chidi Okpala, Head of Corporate Communications at GBB, the engagement featured a detailed presentation on the Integrated Digital Transformation Strategy (IDTS) — a key initiative under Professor Adeyanju’s leadership.
The IDTS focuses on expanding digital infrastructure, enabling data-driven governance, and fostering inter-agency collaboration across the public sector.
The NBMA delegation was also given a tour of GBB’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the Security Operations Centre (SOC), Network Operations Centre (NOC), and Tier III Data Centre, which power secure and reliable ICT operations for both government and enterprise clients nationwide.
Galaxy Backbone’s Commitment to National Digital Growth
As a public enterprise of the Federal Government of Nigeria, Galaxy Backbone remains committed to providing a unified ICT infrastructure for all MDAs.
Through secure connectivity, shared services, and cloud infrastructure, GBB continues to strengthen Nigeria’s digital economy, promote inter-agency efficiency, and support the Renewed Hope Agenda through technology-led governance.
