Unveiled during the Choose France Summit, the partnership reinforces the AI cooperation agreements endorsed by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and French President Emmanuel Macron in February 2025. It underscores growing bilateral momentum to champion open, trustworthy, and sovereign AI development.
A New Era of UAE–France Collaboration on Open AI Development
Rooted in decades of strong economic and cultural ties between the UAE and France, this partnership signifies a fresh chapter in cross-border AI cooperation. G42 brings its vast operational reach and AI capabilities—including contributions from Core42 (AI infrastructure) and Inception (AI platform solutions)—to the table. Mistral AI complements this with its cutting-edge research and open-weight large language models (LLMs).
“Together with Mistral AI, we’re not just building technology—we’re building a digitally interdependent future,” said Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42.
End-to-End AI Value Chain: From Infrastructure to Industry-Specific Solutions
The collaboration will span the entire AI value chain:
- Training of frontier AI models
- Development of AI agents and scalable infrastructure
- Deployment of industry-specific AI applications across Europe, the Middle East, and the Global South
Integration of Mistral AI’s open platforms into the G42 stack will be executed with a strong emphasis on technical autonomy, IP governance, and scalable, sovereign AI deployment.
“G42 is a partner who shares our vision of making open AI accessible and impactful across the world,” said Arthur Mensch, Co-founder and CEO of Mistral AI.
MBZUAI Joins Forces to Advance AI Research and Talent Development
As part of the broader agreement, Mistral AI will explore research and development collaborations with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI)—the world’s first graduate-level AI university based in Abu Dhabi. The collaboration will focus on:
- Next-gen foundational models
- Energy-efficient AI
- Safety and ethical innovation
- Talent development and capacity building
“Our shared values make us ideally suited to lead impactful research that benefits global communities,” said Eric Xing, President and University Professor at MBZUAI.
Inclusive AI Innovation for the Global South and Beyond
Both companies emphasized a shared commitment to AI openness, economic opportunity, and inclusive digital growth—particularly for regions underserved by existing tech infrastructure. This alliance is expected to expand the reach of AI innovation beyond traditional technology hubs into new and emerging markets.
