First Bank of Nigeria Limited has announced its partnership with the organizers of the E1 Lagos GP, Africa’s first all-electric powerboat racing championship, scheduled to take place in Lagos from October 3–5, 2025.

The landmark event was unveiled during the E1 Lagos GP Stakeholder Immersion Session in Lagos, where Olayinka Ijabiyi, Acting Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communication at FirstBank, reiterated the bank’s dedication to promoting sports, culture, and human development.

Through its First@Sports initiative, FirstBank has consistently invested in platforms that inspire and unite Nigerians. The bank has backed iconic tournaments such as the Georgian Polo Cup, hosted for over 105 years, and the Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship, now in its 64th year.

Global Icons to Compete in Lagos

The Lagos GP will feature teams owned by global stars such as Tom Brady, LeBron James, Didier Drogba, Will Smith, Marc Anthony, Steve Aoki, and Rafael Nadal. Lagos will host the penultimate leg before the 2025 season finale in Miami, USA.

Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, commended FirstBank’s role in showcasing the city’s culture, people, and global relevance through the innovative sports partnership.
