Poa Internet’s expansion will leverage Nokia’s fibre technology, ensuring reliable and scalable infrastructure.

Earlier in May 2025, Finland’s President Alexander Stubb and First Lady Suzanne Innes-Stubb visited Nairobi’s Kawangware community to witness Poa’s work in providing affordable residential internet and its impact on low-income households.

“With Finnfund’s support and Nokia’s infrastructure, we will expand affordable broadband access to more Kenyan communities,” said Andy Halsall, CEO of Poa Internet.

“Broadband is a fundamental enabler for trade, healthcare, education, and government services across Africa.”

EU Endorses Human-Centred Digitalisation

The EU described the investment as part of its Global Gateway initiative, which supports sustainable connectivity projects worldwide.
“This investment proves that human-centred digitalisation is not just a vision but a reality—empowering people, creating opportunities, and strengthening social inclusion,” said Henriette Geiger, EU Ambassador to Kenya.
