Equinix Unveils LG3: A New $22 Million High-Performance Data Center in Lagos

Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the world’s leading digital infrastructure company™, has announced plans to open a new $22 million state-of-the-art data center, LG3, in Lagos, Nigeria.

Scheduled for launch in Q1 2026, LG3 will be the first Equinix facility newly built in West Africa and marks the beginning of a wider $100 million investment strategy to expand digital infrastructure across Africa over the next two years.

The new Lagos site will strengthen global connectivity into West Africa, leveraging Equinix Fabric to enable seamless, secure interconnection between enterprises, cloud providers, and global digital ecosystems.

Accelerating Digital Connectivity and Cloud Adoption in Nigeria

The introduction of LG3 brings Equinix Fabric to Lagos, enabling businesses to securely connect physical and virtual infrastructure to partners and cloud service providers across more than 270 Equinix data centers worldwide.

Equinix Expands African Footprint Across Key Markets

Since entering the African market in 2022, Equinix has expanded into Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and opened its first data center in Johannesburg, South Africa. These investments strengthen the company’s global presence while supporting Africa’s digital transformation through carrier-neutral, sustainable infrastructure.

The LG3 facility will also leverage Nigeria’s strategic location as a subsea cable hub linking Africa with Europe and Asia, further deepening global interconnectivity.
