Cydome Introduces Zero-Touch Cybersecurity for Remote Energy Assets
Cydome, a pioneer in maritime and critical infrastructure cybersecurity, has launched a new deployment option for its platform—Cydome Embedded for Remote Energy Facilities—designed to protect offshore and hard-to-access clean energy infrastructure without requiring physical site visits.

The new solution deploys as a lightweight software container directly on existing VSAT routers, enabling advanced cybersecurity protection and regulatory compliance for space-constrained, remote environments such as offshore wind farms.
Cybersecurity Without Physical Access
Cydome Embedded is the first solution of its kind to use advanced edge computing to deliver zero-touch security. It runs as an embedded virtual container optimized for existing, often resource-limited, VSAT routers and other network edge devices.
The platform is fully installed, updated, and maintained remotely—eliminating the need for on-site technicians and reducing operational complexity, safety risks, and costs associated with offshore deployments.
Rising Cyber Risks in Offshore and Renewable Energy
As cybersecurity regulations tighten and cyber threats escalate, offshore and renewable energy operators face increasing pressure to secure assets that are physically difficult and costly to access.
The offshore renewable sector is expanding rapidly. Europe alone operates around 135 offshore wind farms with more than 6,000 turbines and 34 GW of installed capacity, while new installations are growing at roughly 40% year over year. The U.S. market is also accelerating as policy shifts open new offshore development areas amid growing energy supply challenges.
Yet protection levels remain low. According to Cyber Energia, only about 1% of the world’s 11,000 wind assets have adequate cyber protection. UK renewable energy facilities reportedly face up to 1,000 attempted cyberattacks daily, while firms such as Trustwave and Sophos have reported sharp increases in ransomware attacks on energy and utilities, with average incident costs exceeding $5 million.
High Costs Have Slowed Protection Efforts
Securing offshore facilities has traditionally been prohibitively expensive. Sending technicians offshore for installation can cost up to $200,000 per visit when vessel rental is included. Meanwhile, a single day of downtime for a 10MW turbine can result in revenue losses of $15,000 to $30,000.
Conventional cybersecurity solutions often require physical hardware installation and direct network access, making them impractical for wind farms that consist of dozens of widely dispersed turbines.
AI-Driven Security Built for IT and OT Environments
Built on Cydome’s class-certified and industry-endorsed platform—already deployed across hundreds of vessels and offshore facilities—Cydome Embedded delivers AI-powered, real-time cyber threat detection, automated vulnerability scanning, and network security across both IT and OT environments.
The platform also provides centralized, multi-site risk management and compliance monitoring, enabling operators to oversee entire wind farms or energy facilities from a single interface.
A Breakthrough for Remote Infrastructure Protection
“Existing cybersecurity solutions assume you can send technicians to install hardware,” said Nir Ayalon, Founder and CEO of Cydome. “We’ve achieved a technological breakthrough that delivers full protection on existing hardware with minimal computing power, enabling operators to secure remote assets without the need for physical access.”
Availability and Supported Hardware
Cydome Embedded for Remote Energy Facilities is generally available and supports deployment on existing routers from vendors such as Peplink and Speedcast, among others.
