This critical phase follows the completion of a foundational fiber optic network, marking a significant leap forward in the state’s ambitious digital transformation agenda under Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

Building the Backbone for a Connected Government

The deployment, which commenced at the Government House in Makurdi, is built upon a newly operational fiber optic and active network already installed across 16 key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). This infrastructure serves as the high-speed backbone for the state’s entire Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) ecosystem.

The new equipment will power essential digital services, ensuring they are reliably connected and operate with minimal disruption. This includes:

  • Video conferencing and enterprise communication
  • E-governance and service delivery platforms
  • Digital identity management systems
  • Integrated smart security solutions

Leadership Focus: Efficiency and Service Delivery

Mr. Gbande Terwase, Managing Director/CEO of BDIC, emphasized the project’s impact on governance. He stated that the integrated network is designed to “drastically reduce operational bottlenecks and improve citizen-facing services,” positioning Benue as a leading innovation-driven state in Nigeria through continued strategic investment in digital infrastructure.
