Benue Digital Infrastructure Company PLC (BDIC), under the leadership of Managing Director/CEO Gbande Hembaor Terwase, has initiated the deployment of cutting-edge satellite and digital signal infrastructure to enhance real-time surveillance and security across Benue State’s borders. This strategic move is part of the broader digital transformation agenda championed by Governor Hyacinth Iormen Alia, aimed at securing the state through advanced technology.

In line with the governor’s commitment to integrate digital solutions across Benue’s governance and economy, BDIC is incorporating real-time satellite data, drone intelligence, and digital signal mapping into the state’s Base Stations and Command & Control Centre currently under development in Makurdi.

Strategic Collaboration with Proforce Galaxies

A major breakthrough occurred this week in Abuja, where BDIC collaborated with Proforce Galaxies, a leading Nigerian space and drone intelligence company, to conduct satellite data analysis and border mapping of Benue and adjoining states. Utilizing high-resolution satellite imaging and drone reconnaissance, the mission identified vulnerable border entry points and security hotspots, advancing the state’s preparedness for real-time threat response.

Already 70% complete, the project will equip both security personnel and trained local youths with intelligent surveillance tools, enhancing crisis management and response efficiency in affected areas.

“This is not merely a technological upgrade; it is a comprehensive digital security architecture built on precision, foresight, and innovation,” said BDIC CEO Terwase.

The deployed systems will integrate seamlessly with national security infrastructure and bolster community-based intelligence networks, especially in rural and border communities.

Pioneering Digital Security in Nigeria

Benue’s digital surveillance project sets a national benchmark in the application of emerging technologies to internal security. It demonstrates how data-driven solutions can defend territorial integrity, secure lives, and foster a culture of digital resilience in regions historically plagued by insecurity.

“With this bold digital strategy, Benue is not just deploying technology — it is restoring hope and setting the pace for digitally-driven security reform across Nigeria,” noted a senior project official.

Governor Alia’s Digital Transformation Agenda

Since assuming office, Governor Hyacinth Alia has prioritized technology-led governance, resulting in the creation of specialized institutions to support Benue’s digital economy vision:

  1. Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy
  2. Benue State Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC)
  3. Benue Digital Infrastructure Services Management and Enforcement Agency (BENDISMEA)

These bodies are central to scaling e-governance, expanding broadband and ICT infrastructure, and empowering thousands of Benue youths with digital skills.

As the security and digital infrastructure project progresses, Benue is positioning itself as a leader in smart governance, digital innovation, and border intelligence in Nigeria.
