The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has ushered in new leadership for its Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter. Andrew Agbo Abu, founder of the Young Innovators of Nigeria, was elected as the new Chapter Chairman during the body’s Annual General Meeting held in Abuja. This is a significant move for Nigeria’s technology community, underscoring a shift towards youthful leadership.

Abu’s election signals a strong focus on youth innovation, digital policy advocacy, and deeper ecosystem collaboration. He will be leading the premier IT professional body in the nation’s capital for a two-year term.

Andrew Agbo Abu is a widely respected figure in Nigeria’s tech landscape, with over a decade of experience driving digital skills development and ICT inclusion. Through his organization, Young Innovators of Nigeria, he has been at the forefront of nationwide initiatives in tech education, entrepreneurship, and policy shaping.
His election brings a practitioner’s perspective and a robust network to the leadership of the NCS FCT Chapter, aligning with the society’s mission to influence Nigeria’s digital future.

In his acceptance speech, Abu expressed gratitude for the mandate and outlined a clear vision for transformative leadership.
“I am honored by this mandate, and I assure our Elders, Distinguished fellows and members that we will work collectively to advance the NCS vision in the Federal Capital Territory,” Abu stated.
He pledged a tenure focused on “repositioning the FCT Chapter for greater relevance, visibility, and professional impact,” with immediate plans to re-engineer membership drives and foster strategic partnerships.
“We will deepen collaboration with the FCT Administration as a key technology partner in building a secure, smart, and innovative Abuja,” he added, highlighting his administration’s commitment to public-sector engagement.
Strategic Priorities for the NCS FCT Chapter
Under Abu’s chairmanship, the Chapter has outlined a roadmap with several key priorities:
- Membership & Growth: Expanding membership and enhancing professional development programs for ICT professionals in Abuja.
- Strategic Partnerships: Strengthening alliances with government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the corporate private sector, and academic institutions.
- Policy Influence: Enhancing the NCS’s role in shaping digital policy and innovation initiatives within the FCT.
- Smart City Advocacy: Promoting smart city concepts and digital transformation solutions for Abuja’s development.
- Platform for Innovators: Providing a robust platform for ICT professionals, entrepreneurs, and innovators in the capital.
Abu also thanked the immediate past chairman and the electoral committee for a seamless transition, urging the newly elected executive committee to unite for the task ahead.
