The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced the successful migration of all telecommunications companies in Nigeria to its upgraded National Identification Number (NIN) verification platform, known as NINAuth.

In a statement released by the NIMC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, the Commission described the transition as a major milestone in improving the security, efficiency, and user experience of identity verification across the telecom sector.
What is NINAuth and Why It Matters
The NINAuth platform, fully developed and deployed by NIMC, enables real-time and seamless NIN verification by telecom operators. It also offers enhanced data protection, giving citizens more control over their personal information during digital identity authentication.
“By migrating to this new platform, telecommunications firms can now provide uninterrupted verification services to their subscribers. This is part of our effort to empower NIN holders and enhance trust in digital identity systems,” said Adegoke.
Enhanced User Access and Data Control
NINAuth is designed to support:
- Seamless verification of NIN data
- Secure access to digital services
- Convenient integration with telecom platforms
- Greater control for individuals over their identity data
The Director of IT/IDD at NIMC, Lanre Yusuf, also confirmed that the migration is complete and that all telcos are now using the NINAuth platform without service interruptions.
Issues with SIM Services? Contact Telcos, Not NIMC
While NIMC has confirmed that the Verification and Authentication Service platforms are fully functional and accessible, it has advised the public that any issues related to:
- New SIM registration
- SIM swap or migration
- Welcome Back SIM services
should be addressed directly with telecom service providers, not NIMC.
