Africa Data Centres is among the continent’s largest interconnected networks of carrier- and cloud-neutral data centre facilities, providing critical infrastructure services to enterprises, cloud service providers, and telecommunications operators across Africa.

Building the Foundation for West Africa’s Digital Future

Reflecting on his tenure, Ranganath described his time at Africa Data Centres as a journey defined by resilience, long-term thinking, and foundational infrastructure development to support West Africa’s digital future. He noted that what began as a mission to navigate a complex and emerging market evolved into a period of sustained growth and operational maturity.

“We didn’t just build data centres; we built the foundation for West Africa’s digital future,” Ranganath said

He added that he was proud of the strong operational culture, strategic milestones, and high-performance regional team developed during his leadership.

Expansion, Market Entry and Operational Growth

Ranganath joined Africa Data Centres at a pivotal stage when the company was positioning itself as a major player in West Africa’s rapidly expanding data centre market. During his tenure, he led market entry and regional expansion initiatives, navigating regulatory, environmental, and operational challenges while scaling infrastructure capacity in key markets.

Under his leadership, the company transitioned from early-stage infrastructure deployment to becoming an established provider of colocation and cloud connectivity services, strengthening its operational systems and regional footprint.

Industry Recognition and What’s Next

In recognition of his contributions to digital infrastructure development and innovation, Ranganath was named one of Nigeria’s 50 Most Valuable Personalities in the Digital Economy by IT Edge News.Africa.

In a farewell message, he expressed gratitude to colleagues and partners for their collaboration and commitment, thanking them for the “late nights and strategic breakthroughs” that defined the period. While he did not disclose details of his next role, Ranganath indicated that an announcement regarding his future plans would be made in due course.

His exit comes amid rising demand for data centre capacity across West Africa, driven by increased cloud adoption, rapid digital services growth, and enterprise demand for localised, resilient data infrastructure.
